Born in 1952 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Steve exhibited a passion and flair for art that has never wavered. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Art History.  Following postgraduate work in studio art at the University of Georgia, Steve and his wife, Bronwyn, moved to New York City. While in New York, Steve studied at the Art Students League and had a one-man show at Art Galaxy.  With the arrival of their first child nearing, the Hintons moved back to the South and settled in Albany, Georgia, where Steve became the president of Hinton Oil Company.  He continued to draw and paint as always.

Cafeteria Mural

In 1996, his exhibition, Fire on Baptist Hill, a compilation of 25  charcoal and pastel drawings, was displayed at the Albany Museum of Art .  By 1997, Steve decided to leave the oil business.  Since that time he has participated in a half dozen solo exhibitions and numerous group shows, illustrated a book jacket, and executed commissions for private and public collections.  A prolific artist, he has completed over 300 works and maintains a studio at home.
